A Narrowly Averted Tragedy

Standard

(Dated 4/26/09.  The real tragedy may be that I still haven’t kicked my smoking habit.)

I was hovering over the pansy powder-blue bowl
Relieving myself (the only way possible)
in the confines of the lonely craggy manner
on top of the hill (king me)
When the lonely dirty cigarette nestled behind my dirty ear
became a jumper and narrowly escaped
the yellow maelstrom of the pansy powder-blue maw of death
and death-defyingly clipped the edge of the inviting bowl
and plummeted safely to the welcome escape
of the dirty yellow floor below.

And this dirty yellow boy
thanks his dirty lucky stars
that his dirty dirty habit
was saved.
